Rebecca Corin shared a message titled, 'Identity & Action: The Hands & Feet of God' There is a tension in the outworking of our faith which is in being sons and daughters of God, and ALSO being called to service and servanthood. Galatians 5:13-14 NLT "For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. 14 For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbour as yourself.”" Galatians 5:6b NIV "The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love." Our value comes from who we are in God not what we can do for God. Love comes first. Micah 6:8 "He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." Becka shared that she used to believe the lie that she was only loveable when she was helpful and useful. So she lived in perpetual motion, always moving, always doing because in stillness and quiet, the mean girl in her head was excruciating. She had lots to tell but found it very hard to sit in stillness and listen. Transformation came for her through intentional discipleship from a youth minister. One day during a ministry time she asked God, what do you call me? She expected to hear, "Well done, good and faithful servant" or "This is my Daughter with whom I'm well pleased" But instead heard, "Arise, my darling, my beautiful one and come and follow me." Transformation and releasing of gifting can come in the stillness. Why is it so hard to sit in identity - to be a darling. Why is it so hard to claim the glory God has given us? Perhaps because we are so aware of our broken parts. All your broken pieces can be remodelled when placed in God's hands. He brings transformation! 2 Corinthians 4:7 NLT "We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves." God calls you His daughter or His son. You are beautiful because of who you are not because of the things you do but because you are His! Colossians 3:12-14 NIV "Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity." Becka shared stories of two friends who showed her incredible support and love in real, meaningful and practical ways. When she asked one of these friends why she'd helped the way she did, her response was, "I noticed your light had grown dim." The challenge is put out, what if we ALL had someone who noticed this about us? What if we all looked out for that in our communities? What would happen if everyone had a follower of God around them, as the hands and feet of Jesus, turning up into each situation? This would bring transformation! Again, we are sons and daughters of God, Holy and precious and beautiful AND we are the hands and feet of God. --- You can watch the full message below:
