Wayne Huirua shared a message titled, 'Mature Worshippers' Free people worship! When the nation of Israel come out of Egypt and are delivered across the Red Sea, it's like they're asking, "Can this be true?" When realisation hits that God has set them free from their captors, celebration breaks out. When you realise you are free, gratitude and worship are a natural response. At church we remember what he has done and we worship and praise and thank him. But sometimes our attitude toward the "worship team" is “What have you got for me today?” We are conditioned to make sure the environment is right before we will engage, rather than maturely leading ourselves. The worship in Moses’ tabernacle was about a cow! Music didn’t even come in until David. Now we make worship all about music! When people worshipped in Moses' day, THEY had to bring the cow, the offering. The Priest just facilitated the worship. In our day, the music team are like the priests facilitating, but WE must bring the cow. God didn’t ask for your personality. He asked for your obedience! He doesn’t ask for our blood sacrifice. He just asks for our gratitude. Christianity is the only religion where God has done the sacrificing for the people. All we need to do is say hey thanks for the whole salvation thing! If you’ve been saved you don’t need a band to lead you into worship. Own your own praise. Would Jesus like to come to this church? Or would He be bored, or not seen, neglected? Can we make Jesus feel welcome in our gathering? Are you mature enough in your faith to lead yourself in worship? When everyone contributes it builds each others’ faith. Ask: Lord, what can I bring you that’s more about you and less about me? Sometimes our worship becomes feeling bad for ourselves, punishing ourselves, instead of receiving good gifts from Him. Psalm 47:1 "Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with the voice of triumph!" No matter what happens, in the end we win! We have victory, we’re more than conquerors. Faith says: no matter what happens, I’ll worship anyway. Maybe nothing else blesses God's heart more than praise in the midst of trial. Can you imagine what it does to the heart of God when we set aside our personal preference to worship Him? --- You can watch the full message below:

Lawrence Kirby shared a message titled, 'Covered in the Journey' Transformation is very intimate to our vision at KIC... When we live in Christ we become more and more like Him. This is a supernatural thing, not a logical thing. Faith itself is a supernatural thing, gifted to us by the Holy Spirit. We live in a space of tension between our identity which is resting in being children of God and also working out our faith. Romans 7:4-6 NLT "So, my dear brothers and sisters, this is the point: You died to the power of the law when you died with Christ. And now you are united with the one who was raised from the dead. As a result, we can produce a harvest of good deeds for God. 5 When we were controlled by our old nature sinful desires were at work within us, and the law aroused these evil desires that produced a harvest of sinful deeds, resulting in death. 6 But now we have been released from the law, for we died to it and are no longer captive to its power. Now we can serve God, not in the old way of obeying the letter of the law, but in the new way of living in the Spirit." Romans 8:1-2 NLT "So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. 2 And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death." Between these two passages Paul talks about the wrestle of still doing what we don't want to do even when we have the Spirit at work in us. In the process of our wrestling, there is no condemnation for we are in Christ Jesus. This is so relieving and freeing! As long as we remain connected to the source - the life that is in Jesus Christ - God covers the wrestle and transforms us from glory to glory! In the journey of transformation we are covered by the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:9 TPT "But when the Spirit of Christ empowers your life, you are not dominated by the flesh but by the Spirit. And if you are not joined to the Spirit of the Anointed One, you are not of him." How do we know if we are connected to the Spirit or not? We do not lose this connection when we do something wrong or sinful... The wording in Romans 8:9 is an unusual Greek clause that can be translated 'if anyone is not joined to the Spirit of Christ, he cannot be himself.' When we're connected to the Spirit of God, we're able to be who God has created us to be! It's not about programmes or rituals or doing the right things, it's about being connected to Christ by the Spirit, and nothing can separate us from this love! --- You can watch the full message below: Rebecca Corin shared a message titled, 'Identity & Action: The Hands & Feet of God' There is a tension in the outworking of our faith which is in being sons and daughters of God, and ALSO being called to service and servanthood. Galatians 5:13-14 NLT "For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. 14 For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbour as yourself.”" Galatians 5:6b NIV "The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love." Our value comes from who we are in God not what we can do for God. Love comes first. Micah 6:8 "He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." Becka shared that she used to believe the lie that she was only loveable when she was helpful and useful. So she lived in perpetual motion, always moving, always doing because in stillness and quiet, the mean girl in her head was excruciating. She had lots to tell but found it very hard to sit in stillness and listen. Transformation came for her through intentional discipleship from a youth minister. One day during a ministry time she asked God, what do you call me? She expected to hear, "Well done, good and faithful servant" or "This is my Daughter with whom I'm well pleased" But instead heard, "Arise, my darling, my beautiful one and come and follow me." Transformation and releasing of gifting can come in the stillness. Why is it so hard to sit in identity - to be a darling. Why is it so hard to claim the glory God has given us? Perhaps because we are so aware of our broken parts. All your broken pieces can be remodelled when placed in God's hands. He brings transformation! 2 Corinthians 4:7 NLT "We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves." God calls you His daughter or His son. You are beautiful because of who you are not because of the things you do but because you are His! Colossians 3:12-14 NIV "Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity." Becka shared stories of two friends who showed her incredible support and love in real, meaningful and practical ways. When she asked one of these friends why she'd helped the way she did, her response was, "I noticed your light had grown dim." The challenge is put out, what if we ALL had someone who noticed this about us? What if we all looked out for that in our communities? What would happen if everyone had a follower of God around them, as the hands and feet of Jesus, turning up into each situation? This would bring transformation! Again, we are sons and daughters of God, Holy and precious and beautiful AND we are the hands and feet of God. --- You can watch the full message below: Tori Pinfold shared a message titled, 'Transformed from Glory to Glory' God’s glory and our glory. It doesn't always feel natural to think of our own glory, yet it glorifies God more when we sit in what He has given us. 2 Corinthians 3:18 NIV "And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit." We are being transformed into his image. 2 Corinthians 3:12-18 NIV "Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold. 13 We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to prevent the Israelites from seeing the end of what was passing away. 14 But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away. 15 Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. 16 But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit." There are two Covenants between God and humanity. In the Old Covenant there was separation - it felt like God was up there on the mountain and the people were far away, outside of the Holiness. There was a question in the mind of humanity of 'Can I keep this Law, so that God will be pleased with me?' The answer was no, we couldn't, but God had a plan for Christ to be the Way. The old way was glorious, but it was nothing compared to the New Covenant God was going to make with His people. The Israelites were at the base of the mountain and Moses was up there with God. When he returned his face was glowing! This reminded the people that God was so beyond what they could grasp. We stay in a veiled way of thinking when we are in the Old Covenant. What does it mean to be unveiled? 2 Corinthians 4:6 NIV "For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ." Jesus fulfils the Law and turns His face toward us! An encounter with God is what removes the veil. The Law still exists but its internal, it's written on our hearts. The Spirit is inside us doing the work. We tend to not like the fact that we might be glorious! Worm Theology is a name for it - an idea that if we make ourselves smaller and smaller it would make God bigger, but that doesn’t serve Him! He wants to lift us up and share His glory with us! It’s ok to have glory. The transformation at work in us points people back to God who makes us shine. Just like an aurora which is caused by the sun, the beauty in us is caused by Christ - our Glory points back to His Glory! "The sense that in this universe we are treated as strangers, the longing to be acknowledged, to meet with some response, to bridge some chasm that yawns between us and reality, is part of our inconsolable secret. And surely, from this point of view, the promise of glory, in the sense described, becomes highly relevant to our deep desire. For glory means good report with God, acceptance by God, response, acknowledgement, and welcome into the heart of things. The door on which we have been knocking all our lives will open at last." - C. S. Lewis (The Weight of Glory) This is what Jesus offers us in the New Covenant! 2 Corinthians 2:14 NIV "Thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere." We are not prisoners of war, we are lead by Christ as God's children. Just as there are models out the front of cathedrals that the blind can touch to grasp a concept of the enormity and sense of the Cathedral, we are models of God that people can tangibly touch and get a grasp of who God is! As God transforms us from one glory to the next, He's making us into models of Himself. People can see us as we change from one degree to another. Romans 8:19 NIV "For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed." We have freedom in Christ, our faces are unveiled, we are being transformed from glory to glory and all of creation longs for that! --- You can watch the full message below: |
