Hi parents of beautiful kids!
Philippa here. Ignite have been having a great time learning and growing together this year and it is hard to believe we are into term 3. We've covered all kinds of topics with last terms' focus being on 'God With Us' in moments of anxiety/fear.
Telling God's Story
Over the next 2 terms we are trialing a new resource written by Peter Enns called 'Telling God's Story'. Through August and September we are looking at some of the stories and miracles of Jesus, and how they apply to us. If you would like to look at the resource we are using, please let me know.
If your kids miss a week, I am happy to send you a link of what they missed so you can read and chat it through with them. The current resource we are using is written for the younger age group but is a good starting point for discussion with older kids and language can easily be altered to suit your child's age group.
Rewards
We are trying to spread out the rewards to all the children over time. If your child has been inadvertently missed please subtly let me know and we can rectify that asap! Please gently remind your children to be respectful when others are talking in Ignite. Kids chatting while a leader is teaching can be quite disruptive for the rest of the group.
Behaviour Management
Just to keep you up to date, below is our reviewed behaviour management plan for Ignite. The below steps are what leaders are implementing with the children if necessary.
1/ We use positive words to turn toward the behaviour we want to see.
2/ If unwanted behaviour is persisting a leader sits beside the child and encourages good changes using positive language.
3/ If the child is still disrupting the group, a leader takes them aside and chats re: what's going on for them etc.
4/ As a last resort we may need to text a parent/caregiver to come collect the child or we may bring the child back to the parent/caregiver.
We understand we all have bad days and we want to help them through that but if they're really struggling we may need your help as mentioned above. Please support us in the unlikely event you are called on.
Photos
We are currently in the process of photographing the kids to have named photos on display to help our once a month leaders learn their names. If you do not want your child photographed please let me know asap.
